Weyndelruth also won the “Darling of the Press” and “Miss Avant Garde” awards.

“I did not expect to win, but I was hoping I would”, Weyndelruth said in an interview shortly after the pageant which ended past midnight.

After the win, Weyndelruth will continue with her advocacy to “Be A Growing Universal Influencer for Others”, an acronym of BAGUIO that she coined herself, and as an ambassador of the country’s Summer Capital, she will also promote the pageant’s advocacy on responsible pet parenting and its charity programs.

Weyndelruth is a part of the Mr. and Miss Benguet Youth Organization, a youth organization in Benguet aiming to help those who are in need, and presently engaged in relief operations at the Benguet Provincial Capitol and at the operation center in Itogon, Benguet, for the benefit of the recent typhoon victims.

“We are young ambassadors who serve other people in need. I believe that this is our major role as young ambassadors of Benguet”, Weyndelruth said.

She also has an overwhelming compassion over street children, and is dedicated to go through great lengths to clear the community from street kids and to extend any help she can to improve the lives of street children.

“I still see children loose on the streets and I hate to see them like that. I believe they have potentials, but may not have the capability or capacity to build it. I want to help them, and the first thing I will do is to tap the organization responsible and see to it that their needs are met”, Weyndelruth said.

Miss Summer Capital 2018 is hosted by Macro Delecto (MD) Productions, Inc. and organized by Nathaniel “Nats” Pambid Antinew together with Michael “Mike” Uy, of Baguio City.

Mike Uy said over P600,000.00 worth of prizes were awarded to the winners, including sponsored trips with accommodation to Davao and Palawan, as well as to Malaysia and Singapore.

Nats Antinew, on the other hand, said the pageant distinguished itself as “beauty with advocacy”, having first screened its candidates of their own personal advocacy aside from beauty and personality attributes.

Antinew also said that the aim is to promote Baguio as the country’s summer capital and with it, a legacy created for charity and responsible pet parenting.

“We aim to re-introduce Baguio as the country’s summer capital, because it still is. Miss Summer Capital 2018 will do just that, a strong and dedicated goodwill ambassador and role model for our city”, Antinew said.

Miss Summer Capital 2018’s winning answers at the question and answer portion were about social responsibility, strength, and service.

“If we immerse ourselves with social responsibility, together we can make Baguio a bio-diverse community”, Weyndelruth said for a 30-second description of an image of trees being cut.

“I will be Miss Summer Capital 2018 because I am a strong, independent woman, ready to serve. A beauty with a purpose”, the answer Weyndelruth gave for the final question why she should be Miss Summer Capital 2018. msdr/GMB
