BAGUIO CITY — The twenty official candidates for Miss Baguio 2021 were presented to members of the media for the selection of the special award “Darling of the Press” last Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the ballroom of Lafayette Luxury Suites, this city, and livestreamed via Facebook Live.
The event was witnessed by Baguio City supervising tourism operations officer Aloysius C. Mapalo and Baguio first lady Arlene Saneo-Magalong, who also ensured that minimum health and safety protocols were properly observed.
This year’s pageant is done “virtually” so to warrant the safety of the candidates, the organizers, the supporters, and the general public considering the rise in COVID-19 cases as well as the surge of new coronavirus variants lingering around the city’s surroundings, while also providing a platform for the youth to start being active and productive amid the pandemic.
The City Tourism and Special Events Division (CTSED) endorsed the Baguio Weddings and Event Suppliers Organization, Inc. (BWESO) to organize this year’s pageant.
Overall pageant director and choreographer Chai Ramos said five major awards with corresponding cash prizes await the winning candidates, as well as sponsorship awards on top of the cash prizes.
The virtual grand coronation will be on September 30, 2021.
