SM Baguio launches its biggest art fair

“Art in Bloom: Maki Arts Tayo Manen” at SM City Baguio

BAGUIO CITY — Over 300 art pieces from around 140 local artists are on display at the lower basement Gallery and upper ground Exhibit Hall, as well as at the hallways of SM City Baguio since the launching of the “Art in Bloom: Maki Arts Tayo Manen” arts exhibit here on Satuurday, September 4, 2021.

The Art in Bloom is a series of art exhibits hosted by SM City Baguio in partnership with Pasakalye Group of Artists and the Pandaga Youth Artists that aims to support the local art community by providing
artists an area at the mall for free.

The free space will be utilized by the artists to showcase their artwork, aside from the opportunity to expand the audience reach, especially so for the budding and blooming artists.

“We have launched by far the biggest art fair held in SM City Baguio, Art in Bloom: Maki Arts Tayo Manen. As a close-knit community with a deep love for the culture and the arts, we continue to further strengthen affinity with the local arts community by showcasing the talents of the local artists and their artworks to the mall,” SM City Baguio mall manager Rona Vida Correa said in her welcome message.

For her part, former Tourism Promotions Board chief operations officer Venus Tan said, “I’m hoping that SM will continue to be our partner in our quest to really put Baguio in the map, not only for us the Cordillerans both internationally, too, to be recognized.”

Pasakalye founder Maricar Docyogen said that “art is a way of therapy to combat against the growing rate of depression due to the pandemic”.

She said the Pasakalye group of artists wanted to inspire individuals to express themselves as artists and join the arts community.

The event launching was also witnessed by Department of Tourism-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) OIC regional director Jovita Ganongan and Councilor Vladimir Cayabas.

Both expressed their gratitude to SM City Baguio for its continuing support and efforts in being a good partner to the City government of Baguio as well as for being an influencer to other business establishments to do the same.

The art pieces are also for sale. Interested buyers may contact the number listed on the title card of the artwork.
